Ann Donnelly sworn in as federal judge for the Eastern District
Judge Ann M. Donnelly was officially sworn in as the 61st judge of the Eastern District of New York during an investiture ceremony at the Roosevelt Courthouse in Downtown Brooklyn on Friday night.
Donnelly is a graduate of the University of Michigan and the Ohio State University Moritz College of Law. She spent 25 years working for the New York County District Attorney’s Office before she became a judge in the New York Court of Claims in 2009 and later served in the Kings County, New York County and Bronx County Supreme Courts.
Donnelly was nominated to be a federal judge by President Barack Obama on the recommendation of Sen. Charles Schumer. On Friday, she had the oath of office administered to her by Chief Judge Carol Bagley Amon, and Judge Pamela K. Chen bestowed the ceremonial gavel to her as the newest judge in the court.
