UKRAINE — Citizens Take Part in Holy Day: Orthodox believers plunge into the icy water of the Dnieper River during the celebration of the Epiphany in Kiev on Tuesday. Thousands of Orthodox believers celebrated the holiday on Jan. 19, in which the tradition is to plunge into holes cut through thick ice on rivers and ponds to cleanse themselves with water deemed holy for the day.

BROOKLYN — The Impact Center for Public Interest Law and the Center for Real Estate Studies at New York Law School co-sponsored a service project in Honor of Martin Luther King Jr. on Jan. 18 at the Brooklyn Transition Center/P.S. 373 with painting, revitalization, crafts and educational activities.
