St. Ephrem students in grades Kindergarten, 2, 4, 6 and 8 put on their annual Christmas Concert for their parents and family members. The event was held on Wednesday, December 17 in St. Ephrem Church under the direction of music teacher, Sr. Mary Jane Maloney.

Each grade performed three songs each, which included traditional Christmas songs, “Silent Night,” “Joy to the World” and “O Come All Ye Faithful.” The second graders performed the Nativity scene where they were beautifully bedecked as the shepherds, Three Wise Men, the angel, Virgin Mary, Joseph.

Parents were also treated to the performance of those students who are in the school band. Under the tutelage of Mr. Kerrin Quinn of the Paul Effman Music Service, the children have been learning how to play instruments, such as, the trumpet, flute, clarinet, drum and saxophone since October. They did a wonderful job performing “Merry Christmas to All,” “Jingle Bells” and “Rockin’ Drummer Boy.”

This was the first time that the St. Ephrem Band participated in the Christmas Concert and they did an amazing job. Congratulations to all those children who provided us with a memorable performance. May the spirit of Christmas be in everyone’s hearts this special time of the year.
