Update: While police have yet to confirm the identity of the deceased, news outlets have reported  the officer to be 44-year-old Juan Feliciano of Manhattan’s 28th Precinct. Police officials confirmed that he suffered from a preexisting medical condition.

An on-duty NYPD officer was rushed to Coney Island Hospital (CIH) by EMS Tuesday morning after he lost consciousness while working at Floyd Bennett Field, cops say.

According to police, the initial call came in at around 9:30 a.m. and EMS responded, rushing the officer—unconscious and unresponsive—to CIH where he was pronounced dead.

Police sources could not confirm the officer’s name at this time but reports claim that he went into cardiac arrest after suffering a heart attack.

We will update this story with information as it becomes available.
