Dec. 17, birthdays for Pope Francis, Eugene Levy, Chase Utley
Greetings, Brooklyn. Today is the 252nd day of the year.
ON THIS DAY IN 1915, the Brooklyn Daily Eagle published an article titled “Painter Held in Safe Robbery Case.”
The article focused on police arresting a suspect in a robbery case based on minimal evidence.
“Rosenberg was one of the painters employed in the decoration of the house. He left two days before the robbery, which is said to have netted the thieves about $200 in cash and jewelry,” the Eagle reported. “…Rosenberg, who is a painter by trade, had none of the contents of the safe in his possession when arrested.”
NOTABLE PEOPLE born on this day include leader of the Roman Catholic Church POPE FRANCIS, who was born in 1936; actor BERNARD HILL, who was born in 1944; actress LAURIE HOLDEN, who was born in 1969; actor ERNIE HUDSON, who was born in 1945; comedian and actor EUGENE LEVY, who was born in 1946; actor BILL PULLMAN, who was born in 1954; actor TOMMY STEELE, who was born in 1936; actor SEAN PATRICK THOMAS, who was born in 1970; baseball player CHASE UTLEY, who was born in 1978; and actress SHANNON WOODWARD, who was born in 1984.
