Bensonhurst blaze sends three firefighters to hospital

A three-alarm fire sent three firefighters to NYU Lutheran with minor injuries early morning on Sunday, December 6, according to FDNY reps.

The call, reporting a two-story fire at a commercial building at 8501 New Utrecht Avenue, came in at around 7:11 a.m., an FDNY official said, and the flames were under control a little over two hours later at 9:21 a.m.

The blaze required 33 FDNY units at the scene with 138 fire and EMS personnel on hand as well.

There were no serious injuries.

The incident is under investigation by fire marshals.
