There’s a new dance craze at P.S. 127. Everyone is doing the “Turkey Pokey.”

The dance was part of a “Day of Gratitude” celebration at the Bay Ridge school in which students performed in a play called “The Ugly Turkey” to illustrate the importance of judging a person’s character, not their looks.

The day also featured songs, dances and an award ceremony in which Principal Agatha Alicandro honored political and educational leaders for their contributions to the community.

The auditorium of P.S. 127, located at 7805 Seventh Ave., was packed for the “Day of Gratitude,” which took place a few days before Thanksgiving.

Children presented gifts to guests such as Councilmember Vincent Gentile; Assemblymember Pamela Harris; District 20 Community Education Council President Laurie Windsor; and John Quaglione, deputy chief of staff to state Sen. Marty Golden, to thank them for their continued support of P.S. 127.

District 20 Family Support Coordinator Sylwia Jasinski accepted an award on behalf of Superintendent Karina Costantino who was unable to attend the event.
