Thanksgiving is a time of celebration, getting together with family and friends to give thanks for all the good and positive things that have taken place throughout the year.

Whether you are a host or guest, a few reminders would not be amiss at this time of year.

  1. Turn all cell phones on vibrate or silence mode when the meal has started. For the few hours that the family will eat or drink, it is considerate to give full attention to the meal and conversation.
  2. Pass all platters and beverages to the right, unless it is being passed directly to someone at the table.
  3. Do not touch your food until the entire table has been served, and the host/hostess begins the meal.
  4. If asked to pass anything on the table, do not help yourself before passing, but ask that it be returned to you.
  5. Offer to help the host in any way possible; even if rejected, the offer is always appreciated.
  6. Engage in conversation to the person at the left and right. Topics should center around harmonious or “thankful” events, and any family member who attempts to get into controversial conversation, should be cheerfully reminded that the day is dedicated to giving of thanks.
  7. If you are invited to a formal meal, always remember that you use flatware from the outside coming toward the plate. If a spoon is placed to the extreme right, it indicates soup as a first course; unless a tiny fork is in the spoon, which indicates a seafood cocktail would be served before the soup. Glasses are used from the bottom, going to the top. Any spoon or fork at the top of the plate setting is to be reserved for dessert.

Remember to send a note of thanks; it is always appreciated.

BEAUTY TIPS: A Beautiful Neck

A head exercise that strengthens neck muscles in addition to helping vertigo sufferers is slowly to move the head from the left to right shoulders in a smooth movement, left ear attempting to touch left shoulder and right ear toward the right shoulder. This exercise helps to fill out crepey neck skin to the sides of the neck.

For the front and back of the neck, look up slowly to the ceiling and raise the bottom lip over the top slowly. Return the head to normal and bring then bring it forward as far as comfortable. If this is done every day for 10 to 20 reps, you will soon see progress in filling out creases in the neck.
