It’s turkey time.

Borough President Eric Adams on Monday, November 23 distributed over 1,500 turkeys and 7,000 pounds of trimmings – including fresh apples, collard greens, yams and more – to over one hundred churches and community-based organizations serving Brooklynites in need this Thanksgiving.

“In this season where there is so much need, we should all get back to the ‘giving’ roots of Thanksgiving,” said Adams as he loaded up the trucks from the Brooklyn Navy Yard. “As thousands of Brooklyn’s families gather around the holiday table for a hearty feast, thousands more of our neighbors will face empty plates and empty hearts. We cannot forget that so many of us are facing the physical and psychological pain of hunger.”

Sponsors for the give-back included Affinity Health Plan, Amalgamated Bank, Brooklyn Navy Yard, Children’s Literacy Society, Downtown Brooklyn Partnership, Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield, Fairway Market, Hill Country, Investors Bank, Kings Plaza, National Grid, ShopRite, Target, and Whole Foods.

“I am thankful that, in partnership with great corporate sponsors and community volunteers, we can make a small difference with these meals for the under-served among us,” he said.
