An innovative trio with the unique name of 8 Strings & a Whistle is bringing its sophisticated brand of music to Bay Ridge.

The trio — violinist Ina Litera, cellist Matthew Goeke and flutist Suzanne Gilchrest — will perform in concert on Sunday, Nov. 8 at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 7420 Fourth Ave., at 3 p.m.

The program will include both classical and contemporary pieces.

The trio has been captivating audiences throughout the U.S. since 1998. The group is committed to presenting works that expand the repertoire of the combination of flute, viola and cello.

The trio has championed baroque, classical and romantic music and collaborates regularly with composers and presents premiere performances of many of their works.

Individually, the members of 8 Strings & a Whistle have performed around the world and with such notable musicians as David Bowie and David Sanborn.

The trio’s new CD, “Albert’s Window,” was recorded at the Peter Karl Studio in Gowanus.

Art on the Corner has presented local, citywide and international artists for the past 10 years. The ministry seeks to provide a venue for artists to share their work with audiences, its leaders said.
