In celebration of six decades of performances, the Italian Opera Company will be presenting a special concert on Saturday, Nov. 7, at Saint Finbar Catholic Church, 138 Bay 20th St., at 7 p.m. The concert is titled “A Renaissance of Inspirational Music.”

“It will be an enchanting and inspiring program of arias duets and ensembles” said Nina Di Gregorio, the founder and managing director of the company. “And wait you hear the incredible sounds of our singers in this acoustically rich and radiantly beautiful altar of St. Finbar’s Church.”

Under the musical direction of Thomas Silklos and his Light Orchestra, the performers will sing a wide array of musical styles, including the arias of Verde, Rossini, Puccini and Handel, Irish and Russian folksongs and ballads by Gershwin, Berlin, Rogers and Hammerstein and Bernstein.

The performers are: sopranos Nina Di Gregorio, Camille Simone, Gloria Pandolofini, Florence Guida, Lucy Wussow, Angela Francavilla; and tenors John Houlihan, Benny Togati, Eberto Modica, Vladinir Lokshin, Carlo Notaro, Louis Vingelli, John Bottalico and John Gurrieri. The Italian Opera Company will be joined by the Kings Chorus at the concert. Tony De Nonno, a documentary filmmaker who captured a previous performance of the Italian Opera Company on film said the church is a great setting for a concert.

“St. Finbar’s interior is breathtaking and its acoustics are incredible,” he said. “But it was the Italian Opera Company’s performances that made it such a thrilling and unforgettable evening for all.”
