BRIC, a Brooklyn-based organization that presents contemporary art, performing arts and media programs, hosted its 2015 gala on Tuesday to further support art and creative media in Brooklyn.

The gala celebrated BRICs second year at its new home in the former Strand Theatre, now called the BRIC House. The event was filled with entertainment from Brooklyn-based orchestral collective The Knights, the Brooklyn United Marching Band, vocalist Deva Mahal and DJ Maria Chavez, including a silent auction with artists from the area.

Speaking in the ballroom of the new venue, Board Chair Hilary Ackerman praised the efforts BRIC has made providing free cultural programming to the community, noting BRICs summer camp program, annual BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival arts and media education programs in public schools, and artist cultivation and residencies.

What is BRIC about? Ackerman asked the crowd. Its about you. Its about me. Its about our kids. Its about the artists and media makers. Its about our vast and diverse community. Its about providing arts for all.
