Tap dancers, giant-sized puppets and a Russian jazz band will all be taking the stage at Kingsborough Community College this fall as part of a new season of performances for the school’s performing arts program On Stage at Kingsborough.

“October’s performances have something for everyone, with an international tap dance extravaganza, the world-renowned Moscow Jazz Orchestra and the ever-charming Hudson Vagabond Puppets,” said Anna Becker, executive director of On Stage at Kingsborough. “We are proud to present such a broad range of world-class performances for every member of our community.”

First up, on Friday, Oct. 2, is “Tap City: The Best of the New York City Tap Festival,” featuring tap masters, contemporary soloists and ensembles from around the world performing a high energy romp through tap dance history. The performers will include Kazu Kumagai (the Gregory Hines of Japan); Brazilian Felipe Galganni; Max Pollak, an expert in Rumba Tap; and Karen Calaway Williams, who performed in “Riverdance.” The show starts at 8 p.m.

The Hudson Vagabond Puppets will present “Mammoth Follies” on Sunday, Oct. 4, 2015 at 2 p.m.

“Mammoth Follies” explores the age of the dinosaur in an old-fashioned revue of original songs, jokes and dances. Enormous dinosaur puppets, including Willie Mammoth, Smiley the Saber-Toothed Tiger, Bessie the lovable 27-foot long Apatosaurus, Tony and Trixie Triceratops, Terry the Pterodactyl and the T. Rex will take over the stage in a musical trip through prehistoric times.

On Saturday, Oct. 24, Igor Butman’s Moscow Jazz Orchestra will present “From Russia with Jazz,” featuring violinist Ekaterina Astashova.

Igor Butman, a famous Russian jazz personality and saxophone virtuoso, will lead his 18-piece Moscow Jazz Orchestra in a performance blending the big band sound with contemporary jazz. The concert begins at 8 p.m.

All performances will take place at Kingsborough Community College, 2001 Oriental Boulevard, in Manhattan Beach. The box office for On Stage at Kingsborough is located on the campus and is open Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
