State Sen. Marty Golden is offering women the opportunity to be screened for breast cancer for free.

Golden (R-C-Bay Ridge-Southwest Brooklyn) is partnering with the American Italian Cancer  Foundation to offer free mammograms on Friday, Oct. 16, aboard a mobile care clinic truck that will be parked outside his district office at 3604 Quentin Road.

Free mammograms will be available from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for women who are older than 40 years of age, are New York City residents and who have not had a mammogram in the past year.

An appointment is necessary. To schedule an appointment, call the American Italian Cancer Foundation at 1-877-628-9090.

“This quick medical exam uses a noninvasive X-ray targeted to each breast, producing pictures that medical professionals can use to identify and treat any abnormal areas, possibly indicating the presence of cancer,” Golden said. “Early detection of breast cancer saves lives, and I encourage those who have not had a mammogram in more than a year to make an appointment. It is important to stay informed, stay healthy and get screened.”
