There will be big-time baseball played at MCU Park next September, whether the Cyclones make the playoffs or not.

Though the Baby Bums have failed to qualify for the postseason in each of the past three campaigns, a Fox Sports report on Thursday revealed that Brooklyn was likely to be one of four sites — Sydney, Australia; Mexicali, Mexico and Panama City being the three others — to host qualifying tournaments for the 2017 World Baseball Classic (WBC).

Team USA already has a spot in the 16-team international baseball tournament, but that won’t stop teams from around the world looking to crack the field from descending on Surf Avenue in September 2016
