Some famous Bostonians have brought their burgers to Coney Island.

The popular restaurant Wahlburgers celebrated its official Brooklyn opening on Monday, August 31 at Stillwell Avenue, marking its fourth establishment, with several more to come in the near future.

Since its opening, a number of customers have traveled from near and far to grab a bite of one of the eatery’s famous burgers.

“It’s been unbelievable,” said chef and owner Paul Wahlberg as he shook hands and talked to customers that waited on line. “I’ve never felt so welcome in my entire life as how Brooklyn has treated us. Coney Island is absolutely amazing. Before we started here, I had never been here. The vibrancy of it all, it’s awesome.”

Aron Nektalov, general manager of Wahlburgers, agreed.

“Things have been great. We are excited to be a part of the community and Coney Island,” he said. “We want to make a difference. We want to change the way people view full service and fast service.”

Wahlberg has also been pleased with customer reaction.

“The customers have been absolutely amazing,” he said. “Amazing is how I feel. Being in a beach area is just awesome.”

Customer Pat Roman, who grew up in Gravesend, said that the food and atmosphere surpassed her expectations. “I thought it was going to be an okay spot, but I was surprised to see the great service and the beautiful atmosphere with the outdoor seating that holds panoramic views of my childhood playground,” she said, recommending the Paulie Burger.

“We’re happy that it’s here. We ate at the Boston one. It was really good and when we heard they were opening one here we were excited,” said Brooklynite Toniann Mayer. “It took a while but we’re very happy it’s finally open.”

“What I love about this place is that Paul Wahlberg is actually here,” noted Mayer’s husband, Chris, recommending the Thanksgiving Burger. “That’s his personality. He’s a good guy.”

Vice President of the Brooklyn Cyclones, Steve Cohen was also standing on line looking forward to digging in. “I think it’s great that well-known companies are taking notice of Coney Island,” he said. “It’s fantastic to have additional options for all the millions of people that are visiting.”
