A golden bus champion!
Members of Riders Alliance, an organization dedicated to improving bus and subway service for riders across New York City, gathered recently outside State Senator Marty Golden’s office, 7404 Fifth Avenue, to present him with the Bus Champion award, a trophy that recognizes Golden’s work in improving bus service through legislation.
“It’s clear to us that bus riders need a powerful champion and people who will stand up for them,” said Deputy Director of RA Nick Sifuentes during the Tuesday, August 11 conference. “We are here to recognize such a champion in State Senator Marty Golden.”
Among Golden’s efforts on behalf of bus riders is recently sponsored legislation to expand the city’s Select Bus Service (SBS) system. “This will speed up time for over two million New Yorkers rely on bus service every day,” Sifuentes added, also citing the senator’s efforts to get “more bus service [following] Superstorm Sandy to make sure his constituents had a lifeline to the city.”
