Youngsters take the field at Cyclones’ stadium during free baseball/softball clinic
Approximately 100 local children took the field at MCU Park with Brooklyn Cyclones players and volunteer coaches on Thursday, July 9 to participate in the first of three MCU Youth Baseball/Softball Clinics of the 2015 season.
The clinics provide boys and girls ages seven to 14 with a rare opportunity to learn fielding, running, throwing, stretching and injury prevention from the Brooklyn Cyclones. In addition to learning baseball fundamentals on a professional baseball field and meeting some local baseball players, the youngsters also took part in a question-and-answer session and received four free tickets to attend that night’s Brooklyn Cyclones game.
“It was fabulous, and the kids had such a great time. You could just see it on their faces,” said Sherry Goldman, a spokesperson for MCU. “And they all got four tickets to go to the game that night, so they got to stay and watch the Cyclones play and win.”
