Mayor lauds “Made in NY” Emmy nods

A record-breaking 46 New York-produced series racked up 110 of this year’s Primetime Emmy nominations.

“The ‘Made in NY’ series nominated for the 2015 Primetime Emmy Awards [on Thursday, July 16] are an important part of the fabric of our city, and I want to congratulate the talented men and women whose work on screen and behind the cameras have been recognized,” said Mayor Bill de Blasio. “These shows not only entertain us, but they play a vital role in our local economy, employing thousands of New Yorkers and supporting local businesses throughout the five boroughs.”

“This year’s Emmy nominations cap off a milestone season for episodic television in New York City – a record-breaking 46 series have been produced in the city this past season,” added Cynthia López, commissioner of the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment. “The creative community in New York is unmatched, and our ‘Made in NY’ shows truly deserve each and every one of their Emmy nominations.”

The shows include, among others, “The Blacklist,” “Boardwalk Empire,” “Daredevil,” “Girls” and “Gotham” – all of which have had parts filmed in Brooklyn.

“We’ll be cheering for all the ‘Made in NY’ nominees when the Emmys are handed out on September 20,” said de Blasio.
