Elderly woman raped and robbed

Cops are looking to arrest the man, they say, raped and robbed an 82-year-old woman in Brooklyn.

According to cops, the woman was sweeping outside of her home within the 60th Precinct, which includes the shore-front neighborhoods of Coney Island and Brighton Beach, at around 1:40 a.m. on Monday, July 13 when the suspect – described as a black man anywhere from 20 to 30 years old – gained entry and hid out in her bedroom.

When the woman re-entered the residence, cops say, the suspect assaulted her and demanded money at knifepoint. When the woman did not have any cash to give him, authorities said, the suspect camped out in the apartment for several hours before forcibly raping the woman at around 4 a.m.

The suspect, standing at 5’8” and weighing in at around 160 pounds, is further described as having an afro and a light beard. He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt with unknown writing on the front, grey sweatpants and Converse sneakers with white laces.

Update, 7/15/15, 11:00 a.m.: The suspect has been identified as 18-year-old Robert Asa.
Update, 7/15/15, 11:35 a.m.: The original version of this story reported that the incident occurred in Coney Island, based on initial reports. The NYPD never specified a neighborhood where the incident took place beyond identifying the 60th Precinct.
