Greetings, Brooklyn. Today is the 175th day of the year.

ON THIS DAY IN 1913 the Brooklyn Daily Eagle published an article titled “Human Pyramid and Emergency Life Net Rescue 12 at Fire.”

The article focused on a police officer saving 12 people, six of whom were children, from a fire in a thrilling rescue.

“All chance of escape for the twelve…was seemingly cut off by the flames when Reynolds discovered the blaze, and it seemed but a matter of moments when each…would have to drop to the street from precarious holds at the windows or fall back into the flames which filled the interior of the building,” the Eagle reported.
