Man killed after stabbing NYPD officer at Coney Island subway station

A man was shot dead by police on the Q train’s Ocean Parkway subway station after stabbing another police officer in the neck and shoulders early Thursday afternoon.

According to an NYPD spokesperson, the incident happened at 1:17 p.m. The assailant’s weapon was later recovered, and the officer was removed in stable condition to Lutheran Medical Center in Sunset Park.

Preliminary reports indicate the attacker had assaulted a woman in the station before the officer intervened, according to the Associated Press

There was no further information initially available. An investigation is ongoing, the spokesperson said.
