What happens after the art departs?

Thor Equities is hosting an open-air exhibition called Coney Art Walls on its blacktopped lot at 1320 Bowery on the west side of Stillwell Avenue. See related story. The show, organized by high-profile art curator and dealer Jeffrey Deitch, is expected to run until fall.

When it’s over, what comes next for this property plus a site on the Bowery and the east side of Stillwell Avenue?

“We haven’t finalized our plans for after the summer,” said Joshua Greenwald, Thor’s director of public relations.

Thor owns other Coney Island properties we’re keeping an eye on as well:

* There’s a “For Rent sign” on the Grashorn Building at 1104 Surf Ave. and adjacent 1114-1116 Surf Ave.

Much has been written about the Grashorn Building — and rightfully so. It was built in the 1880s and is the oldest building in Coney Island. Preservationists want it to be landmarked.

* Thor’s website lists 1218 Surf Ave. as being available for rent. There’s a tenant, Eldorado, which operates bumper cars and an arcade in it.

* There’s a “For Rent” sign on the empty lot at 1527 Surf Ave. on the corner of W. 16th Street. Thor bought the land for $800,000 in 2006, city Finance Department records indicate.

* Mark Wahlberg’s fans are watching this building right along with us. We’re talking about Thor’s retail building at 3015 Stillwell Ave. That’s where the actor and his family are putting the finishing touches on their first Brooklyn outpost of Wahlburgers, their restaurant chain. The restaurant’s address at the multi-tenant property is 3021 Stillwell Ave.

Wahlburgers’ Facebook page says “there is a chance” the burger joint could open by July. Here’s our coverage of Walhburgers.
