Citi Bike has announced that it will be adding 2,400 newly designed bikes to its fleet this year.

The New York Daily News reports Citi Bike plans to release 1,000 new bikes at the end of June, with another 1,400 bikes hitting New York City’s streets during its expansion into Brooklyn and Queens later this year.

Officials say the bikes have been made over by Olympic racing bike designer Ben Serrota and will feature many improvements — including a new gear system and a European-style kick stand with two prongs instead of one.

Citi Bike is now being managed by former Metropolitan Transportation Authority chairman Jay Walder, who became the CEO of its Brooklyn-based parent company, Motivate, in October.
