Bill Murray to lead poets across Brooklyn Bridge for on-the-go reading
Bill Murray is set to lead hundreds of poetry lovers and well-known poets — including inaugural poet Richard Blanco and Brooklyn Poet Laureate Tina Chang — across the Brooklyn Bridge as they read aloud NYC-centric poetry on Monday at 6:30 p.m., starting in front of the Municipal Building at One Centre Street at the base of the Brooklyn Bridge in Manhattan.
This is the 20th anniversary of Poets House’s annual Poetry Walk Across the Brooklyn Bridge. The walk benefits Poets House, a 60,000-volume poetry library, national literary center and creative space that invites poets and the public to step into the living tradition of poetry.
Richard Blanco and Tina Chang and other participating poets including Cornelius Eady, Edward Hirsch, Laura Kasischke, Thomas Lux and Ocean Vuong will also attend the event, along with longtime Poets House Executive Director, Lee Briccetti, who is currently celebrating 25 years at the position.
