Brooklyn Women’s Bar hosts 97th annual dinner at Botanic Garden

The Brooklyn Women’s Bar Association (BWBA) held its 97th annual dinner at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden on Tuesday, where it honored Hon. Sylvia O. Hinds-Radix and Hon. Frank R. Seddio.
“It’s been a great year for our organization,” President Hon. Marsha Steinhardt said. “We have grown in numbers and in strength. In all, we added more than 100 members to our ranks. Our strength is exhibited by tonight’s sellout crowd and by the enthusiasm that is palpable in the room.”
Seddio, chairman, Executive Committee Democratic Party of Brooklyn, was presented with the Hon. Beatrice M. Judge’s Recognition Award by A. Gail Prudenti. Hinds-Radix was presented with the Hon. Sybil Hart Kooper Award by her daughter Jovia Radix. Afterward, Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams gave Seddio and Hinds-Radix citations.
“Your two honorees, both my friend Frank Seddio and Judge Hinds-Radix, are those who are dedicated to building bridges for everyday people so that they can aspire and achieve moving further in their lives,” Adams said. “This is an acknowledgement of two people who have given everything about themselves to ensure that lady liberty keeps the blindfolds on.”
When he accepted his award, Seddio discussed how important the BWBA has been to him and said he has been a member since he became an attorney nearly 30 years ago. He also had many kind words for Justice Hinds-Radix.
“This is one of the great bar associations in the state of New York,” Seddio said. “It’s one of those associations that constantly comes up with new concepts, new ideas. It’s really a very special group of people. The ladies that run this organization are people who are beyond measure, who make a difference in our courts.”
Hinds-Radix, who is a past president of the BWBA herself, saved her final words to thank outgoing President Steinhardt and to welcome incoming President Helene Blank.
“Let me congratulate the Hon. Marsha Steinhardt for a stellar year, and I commend innovative work that she has done,” Hinds-Radix said. “Congratulations also to our incoming President Helene Blank, who has already hit the ground running and will take this association to higher heights.”
