Forest City Ratner announces Downtown Brooklyn’s 3rd Annual ‘Summer@MetroTech’ Summer Series

“Summer@MetroTech” — a summer-long cultural and entertainment festival that includes free music, movies, activities and televised sporting events — is returning to Downtown Brooklyn’s MetroTech Commons.

This year’s programming will feature several events, including Bastille Day celebrations, broadcasts of premier sporting events, multiple outdoor movie screenings, a literature fair and the return of the BEAT festival.

The series builds on the success of the popular BAM R&B Festival, which is celebrating its 21st year on the Commons.

“Summer@MetroTech” is produced and sponsored by Forest City Ratner Companies (FCRC) to provide great entertainment for the 60,000 office workers in the third-largest commercial district in the city.

“Partnering with these organizations for ‘Summer@MetroTech’ has been such a wonderful experience for us and is great for the entire Downtown Brooklyn community,” said MaryAnne Gilmartin, president and CEO of FCRC. “Every group involved has such a commitment to and passion for arts and innovation, that it is certain this summer’s series will truly be an unforgettable one.”

Highlights of Summer@MetroTech 2015 include the BAM R&B Festival, Sports in the Commons, BEAT Festival, Rooftop Films, Brooklyn Book Festival, Bastille Day Celebration and Throwback Thursday Movie Nights.

“BAM is delighted to be partnering with Forest City Ratner for the 21st year of our R&B Festival, and for their third summer of hosting outdoor events at the MetroTech Commons,” said BAM President Karen Brooks Hopkins. “The lunchtime summer concert series will continue its tradition of bringing legendary performers and groundbreaking new artists to the Downtown Brooklyn neighborhood. Providing communities with cultural experiences is so integral to their success, and we hope to continue being a part of those successes for years to come!”

“We are so proud that the Brooklyn Book Festival’s new Children’s Day will be hosted by Forest City Ratner in beautiful MetroTech Commons,” said Liz Koch, co-producer of the festival. “We look forward to celebrating the Brooklyn Book Festival’s 10th Anniversary with a free, fun-filled literary day for children and families.
