The Brooklyn Bar Association (BBA) held its annual meeting and awards ceremony last Monday in the auditorium of the association’s Brooklyn Heights home on Remsen Street.

This year the group honored attorneys Steven J. Harkavy and Joseph S. Rosario with awards for their distinguished service within the Brooklyn legal community. Acting Supreme Court Justice Miriam Cyrulnik was presented with the Freda S. Nisnewitz Award.

The Nathan Sobel Award for outstanding service to the Brooklyn legal community was given to Nina Kurtz, a special referee within the New York court system.

Retiring BBA Trustee Richard S. Goldberg was also recognized for his service.

For the first time, the BBA awarded the Hon. Theodore. T. Jones Jr.  Memorial Scholarship to a deserving law student. The award is named for the late New York State Court of Appeals judge who was a beloved member of the Brooklyn legal community and pillar of the association.

Prior to the awards celebration, the association held elections for new officers and trustees, including Arthur L. Aidala, president; Hon. Frank R. Seddio, president-elect; Amiee L. Richter, first vice-president; David M. Chidekel , second vice-president; Frank V. Carone, secretary; and Anthony J. Lamberti, treasurer.
