Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams on Wednesday kicked off his 2015 School Lunchtime Concert Series, held in collaboration with the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership and sponsored by Investors Bank.

This week’s concert in Willoughby Plaza included performances by students from the guitar club at M.S. 577 Conselyea Preparatory School in Williamsburg as well as from the steel orchestra at M.S. 354 The School of Integrated Learning in Crown Heights.

“The sound of a young person discovering their passion for performance and getting to share it with the community is music to everyone’s ears,” said Adams. “The School Lunchtime Concert Series brings Brooklyn’s talented students to the live ‘stage’ that is Downtown Brooklyn, introducing workers and shoppers to our rising stars. I encourage everyone to come down to Willoughby Plaza, grab some lunch and enjoy one of our upcoming concerts.”

“What a perfect way to spend lunchtime in Downtown Brooklyn,” added Tucker Reed, president of the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership. “Willoughby Plaza is always buzzing with activity, but today some of our borough’s most talented students really brought it to life,” Reed said on Wednesday.

For the next five Wednesdays, the free concerts will be held in Willoughby Plaza beginning at noon. On May 20, musicians from I.S. 392 The School for the Gifted and Talented in Brownsville, I.S. 291 Roland Hayes in Bushwick and Park Place Community School M.S. 266 in Park Slope will perform.

Students from I.S. 211 John Wilson in Canarsie; M.S. 385 School of Business, Finance and Entrepreneurship in Bedford-Stuyvesant; and I.S. 340 North Star Academy in Prospect Heights will play on May 27.

June 3 will feature performances from youth attending District 75 P53K in East New York, I.S. 98 Bay Academy in Sheepshead Bay, and I.S. 303 Herbert S. Eisenberg in Coney Island.

Taking the stage on June 10 will be performers from J.H.S. 265 Susan S. McKinney in Fort Greene and additional students from I.S. 392 The School for the Gifted and Talented in Brownsville.

Finally, closing out on June 17 will be artists from School of the Future Brooklyn in East New York and P.S. 399 The Stanley Eugene Clark School in East Flatbush.
