Nothing is so beautiful as Spring.

That line from poet Gerard Manley Hopkins came to mind the other day as we strolled the streets of Brooklyn Heights, checking up on some properties.

Lilac and cherry trees were blooming, stunning arrays of flowers were sprouting in window boxes and ornamental urns, green leaves — finally! — had unfurled on branches. There were blue hydrangeas on Orange Street. Hmm. The Mets’ team colors.

The city’s oldest landmarked neighborhood is an ideal setting for the season to shine. And the renovation projects and “For Sale” signs made the scene even more interesting.

Mellow Yellow!

(Baby Boomers remember that Donovan song.)

This is a shout-out to 72 Hicks St., the stunning yellow clapboard house that’s for sale for an asking price of $10.75 million.

The single-family home, built in 1825, has a two-family certificate of occupancy, according to a web posting by Ellen Gottlieb of Brooklyn Bridge Realty, who is marketing the property. It also says the master bedroom has a view of the Freedom Tower (i.e., 1 World Trade Center).

According to city Finance Department records, sellers Peter Murin and Robin Jaffe Murin paid $2.9 million for the house in 2009.

A tip of the hat to Curbed.com for recently spotlighting this glam property.

Here’s a peek at several other Brooklyn Heights residential properties that are on the market:

* Mara Flash Blum of Sotheby’s has hung a “Townhouse For Sale” sign outside the 1860s-vintage brownstone at 89 Joralemon St.

The asking price is $5.95 million, according to her web page about the single-family home, which has a three-unit certificate of occupancy. Last fall, the asking price was $6.25 million, an October 2014 Curbed.com posting indicates.

Ian Shand, the seller, has owned or co-owned the house since 1975, Finance Department records show.

* Stellar 1 Sidney Place, on the corner of Joralemon Street, is for sale for a $5.5 million asking price. One of its seven residential units is a duplex that currently rents for nearly $11,000 per month, according to a web posting by Vandenberg, the brokerage handling the listing.

Since 1979, the house has been owned or co-owned by Barbara Oliner, according to Finance Department records.

* The asking price of magnificent brownstone 192 Columbia Heights — which has been on the market for more than a year — is $15 million, listing broker Corcoran’s website notes. It has been trimmed by $1 million. This is a property we have previously written about.

* It’s terrific to see tulips instead of snowdrifts on the Promenade behind 3 Pierrepont Place, Brooklyn Heights’ $40 million house.

That’s the asking price for the Low Mansion, whose sale Corcoran is also handling. We’ve previously written about this property, too.
