Guidelines for the future development of the former site of Long Island College Hospital (LICH) will be the hot topic at the spring general meeting of the Cobble Hill Association (CHA).

The meeting takes place on Monday, May 18 at 7:30 p.m. at Cobble Hill Health Center, 380 Henry St.

CHA was one of six neighborhood associations that fought for two years to save LICH, which is being sold by the state for $240 million to developer Fortis Property Group in what many called a “rigged” process.

“LICH and its unnecessary closure have been at the center of the community’s focus for years,” said CHA President Paco Abraham. “As the saga continues toward its final phase before a decade of development, the CHA knows local residents will remain passionate and outspoken on how best to make something positive out of the terrible situation. We welcome all voices to the conversation.”

Fortis head Louis Kestenbaum plans to build condos and other residences on the sprawling, 20-building hospital campus. The size and shape of these condos and the percentage of low-cost housing, if any, is not yet known.

CHA says it hopes to see all of the area’s elected officials at the discussion.

Other items on the agenda include neighborhood updates and a Q&A with Capt. Natalie Maldonado of the 76th Precinct. All members of the public are invited. Refreshments will be provided by Ted & Honey.
