New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio’s executive budget may not include money for 1,000 new police officers.

Council members briefed on the plan before Thursday’s presentation said that the mayor is not allocating resources to hire the officers. The council had proposed the police hires.

But council members said some officers could be added during negotiations between the mayor’s office and the council in the coming weeks.

Police Commissioner William Bratton had signaled support for hiring more officers.

A budget deal must be reached by the end of June. The mayor’s office did not immediately comment.

De Blasio is also expected to set aside additional funds for road repairs, reforms at Rikers Island and public housing.

He will also call on Albany for reforms to create more affordable housing.
