Entrepreneurs and business owners alike will get a chance to view some exclusive storefronts as the Grand Street Business Improvement District hosts a tour and breakfast information session on Saturday, April 25 – a unique one-on-one program in which prospective buyers can peruse 10 available retail properties on Grand Street.

The event, hosted by the Grand Street Business Improvement District (BID), NYC Business Solutions Centers and CPEX Real Estate, is called “Rolling up the Gates” and will feature overviews of new activities taking place in the district, information sessions to answer any questions, and detailed tours of available spaces.

“This initiative will attract new businesses to Grand Street to complement a great group of merchants who have made this corridor their home,” said Artineh Havan, executive director of the Grand Street BID. “It is also a great opportunity to combine our efforts with other groups in assisting local entrepreneurs.”

“As the city’s small business services commissioner, I saw firsthand how ‘Rolling Up the Gates’ events helped the Myrtle Avenue and Fulton Street corridors,” added Senior Managing Director of CPEX Real Estate Rob Walsh. “CPEX Real Estate is proud to partner on this terrific initiative and help in the continued efforts to strengthen this important commercial corridor.”

According to Walsh, having seen the benefits of a prior “Rolling up the Gates event” at Myrtle Avenue, a strip that had been plagued by high crime and vacancies, continuing to bring people together and going through the listings property by property, really helped impact the neighborhood in a positive way.

“I think more of this type of stuff should happen,” said Walsh. “It also speaks a lot about the local organization. Artineh is a good, good person and for her to rally the troops and get the property owners together, [buyers will get] a mix of new and old and see the character of the neighborhood.”

The participating property owners are excited as well. Lori Raymer, owner of 644 Grand Street, said the event is “a terrific opportunity” in her search for a quality tenant.

“We are delighted to be able to show our space to eager entrepreneurs looking to Get In On Grand Street,” Raymer said.

The event will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. The welcome reception and breakfast will be held at Huckleberry Restaurant (588 Grand Street) and the tour will begin at 10 a.m. To RSVP, visit www.grandstbklyn.com.
