Is Burlington the new Brooklyn?

Junior’s Restaurant – an eatery famous for its signature cheesecakes – will move most of its baking operations across the Hudson River and into New Jersey by July, according to reports.

The cheesecake purveyor is a Brooklyn staple since 1950 that has since expanded to three other locations. As first reported by Crain’s New York Business, the new 103,000 square-foot facility in Burlington, New Jersey will replace the eatery’s 20,000-square-foot location at 58-42 Maurice Avenue in Maspeth, Queens.

The move will affect the jobs of as many as 75 employees, according to The New York Times, with about 15 of them expected to make the roughly 80-mile move to Burlington.

Despite the relocation, however, the restaurant’s third-generation owner swears it will stay loyal to its day-one borough.

“Just trust me, O.K.?” Alan Rosen, grandson of Junior’s founder Harry Rosen, told the Times. “As my grandfather is looking down on me, I tested cheesecakes made in New Jersey yesterday and they are identical to the ones we make in Brooklyn.”

In September of 2014, Rosen refused a $45 million offer on the original downtown Brooklyn corner property, after putting it up for sale himself.

Junior’s is located at 386 Flatbush Avenue Extension.
