Saint Anselm celebrates opening day

Saint Anselm Youth Activities held its annual opening day ceremony for its 2015 baseball and softball season on Saturday, April 11.

“The weather was beautiful,” said Eileen White, parent and PTA member. “The kids had a wonderful time.”

The kick-off, sponsored by the Saint Anselm program, began at 10:30 a.m. sharp with opening remarks by Monsignor James Moloney and Catholic Academy Principal James McKeon.

Festivities enveloped the Fort Hamilton baseball fields at 83^rd Street and Colonial Road and featured guest appearances by local politicians ready to throw out the first pitches of the season while kids enjoyed hot dogs fresh off the grill.

“There’s no better way to start the season,” said White.
