Lined up for blocks, umbrellas up, devoted fans of the E! Network’s Giuliana Rancic did not let a little drizzle stop them from their chance to say ciao to the Italian-born TV host and author as she celebrated the release of her book, Going Off Script, on Tuesday, April 7 at the Bookmark Shoppe.

“We are truly excited to have the opportunity to host Giuliana in Bay Ridge,” said Bookmark Shoppe owner Christine Freglette.  “[We are] honored to be the only store in New York City to host her. Her story is truly inspiring and one we can all learn from.”

Born in Naples, Italy, Rancic recounts stories from her childhood, immigrating to the U.S., and her teenage years on the East Coast in her new book. She also adds in little-known facts about her life and how she coped with cancer and infertility issues, all while in the spotlight of television.

“Writing this book was a true labor of love,” said Rancic. “There are funny stories from my early years in Italy to my wild teenage days in Maryland and some emotional stories from more recent events, plus so much more.”

Fans couldn’t wait to pick her brain, some waiting over an hour in the rain to chat with her. Personalizing each signed copy of her book, Rancic made individual connections with every one of her fans, even gabbing in Italian with many of them.

“I might get a second home in Bay Ridge,” said Rancic to one of her fans. “I feel very at ease here.”
