Fontbonne’s swim team retains title as Brooklyn champ

The Fontbonne swim team completed its 2014-2915 regular season with a win over St. Edmund’s High School on January 15, and retained its crown as Brooklyn champion.

At the CHSAA A Swim Championships meet held at Eisenhower Park Aquatic Center on January 31 (trials) and February 1 (finals, Fontbonne defended its Brooklyn crown by once again defeating St. Saviour, Bishop Kearney, and St. Edmond’s, as well as defeating St John Villa and St. Joseph By the Sea from Staten Island and Msgr. Mc Clancy from Queens.

During the championships, Fontbonne’s Caroline Dolan set the school record in the breaststroke with a trials time of 113.36 and at the finals with a time of 112.72. Dolan finished fourth out of 24 at the finals.

Also, Mary Jane Anderson set her personal best time in the backstroke with a time of 106.86. She finished third overall in the backstroke at the finals.

Fontbonne finished fourth overall, losing only to Molloy of Queens and St. Joseph Hill and Notre Dame Academy of Staten Island.
