Cooking for a cause!

Lifelong Brooklynite Camille Loccisano spent some time at Yellow Hook Grille, 7003 Third Avenue, on February 8, bringing together two of her passions—cooking and raising money for cancer research via Frankie’s Mission, an organization named after her son, Francesco, who succumbed to cancer at the age of 17.

The mother and past restaurateur/caterer/cooking instructor, said this was her second time taking over the Grille’s kitchen and that it was a “wonderful, fun-filled” event and a great way to raise money for a good cause.

“Bay Ridge came out and it was a really fun-filled day,” said Loccisano. “They seemed to enjoy the food too which was good and I knew I was doing it in my son’s memory and it was great.”

No stranger to the kitchen, Loccisano even published her first cookbook, Foodships: Living Life, One Recipe at a Time, in 2013 and was very happy that the over 200 people in attendance were able to sample some of her cooking.

“[The restaurant’s owners] have been long time supporters of our foundation,” added Loccisano. “They really wanted to do something in Frankie’s memory and to help a cause. The staff helped me and it all went really wonderful. We were just packed all day and we raised a nice some of money.”
