The Scandinavian East Coast Museum celebrated in style on Sunday, February 22 at its annual Fastelavn Celebration—a Danish take on Mardi Gras.

The celebration, held at the Danish Athletic Club, featured all sorts of traditional activities, games and prizes.

“We were very excited and I think everybody had a great time,” said Victoria Hofmo, president of SECM. “We’ve been doing this for maybe 10 years and I did find out after we started that it had been done at the Danish Club decades ago.”

The evening featured music by Ellen Lindstrom, branch decorating to signify the return of spring, traditional Fastelavn buns provided by Leske’s Bakery, and prizes for best costume.
