With a 5-2 record for third place in the Division II Girls Catholic High School Athletic Association, Coach Anthony Bartholomeo projects his JV squad at Fontbonne Hall Academy to finish on a pace similar to last year. Last season, the team finished in a tie for third place and advanced to the final playoff round only to lose the JV championship to Bishop Kearney.

After beating St. John Villa in a non-league game at home court, Coach Bartholomeo evaluated his sophomore-dominated team after his 60-49 win. “First, we’ve got Erin Kennedy at the point who’s our top scorer, captain and team leader. Next we have Shannon Greene who is only a freshman and is doing a phenomenal job for us at the shooting guard position. Then we have Olivia Chell, also in the backcourt, who is a solid player and has stepped up her game in the last two weeks.”

At the forward positions, Bartholomeo has two more returning sophomores, Emily Manti and Danielle Willoubhby. “Emily has a good ball sense and also stepped up her game this scoring more this year,” he said. “Danielle plays right opposite Emily and is always in the right spot at the right time always around the ball.”

This season, the JV bench is also comprised of players: Tatiana Riedieal, Sabrina Frasca, Lauren Politano and Abigail Fasligno.

Noting that his bench is a strong supporter of his starting five, Coach Bartholomeo stated, “Our bench this year is really together. They cheer for their teammates; a big part of being a team. They’re always in the game and ready to come in.”

With five game left in the regular season Bartholomeo states, “I like where we are right now. We’re looking to take four out of our last five games to get ready for the playoffs.”
