Police Beat: 62nd Precinct blotter

Between Saturday, January 31 and Sunday, February 2, the 62nd Precinct received reports of two felony assaults, two robberies, one grand larceny and one grand larceny auto. The 62nd Precinct serves Bensonhurst, Bath Beach and Gravesend.

REMOTE HOG

A fight between a husband and wife escalated quickly on Sunday, February 1 when the couple began arguing inside of their New Utrecht Avenue and 80th Street apartment at around 9 p.m. According to cops, the woman, a 60-year-old female, tried to the leave the apartment when her husband, a 59-year-old male, began yelling at her.

The man dragged the woman back into the apartment from the hallway and continued to threaten her, saying that he would kill her and her “kids and grandkids” if she went to the police. The woman’s husband then repeatedly punched and kicked her before striking her in the head with a remote control. The man was apprehended by police and the woman was taken to Lutheran Medical Center.

HAIRY SITUATION

A 19-year-old male was robbed at gunpoint at a barbershop near 14th Avenue and 65th Street at around 2:50 p.m. on Sunday, February 1. The unknown perp, a white male who police suspect to be around 40 years old, made off with $140 of the victim’s money and was seen by a nearby witness possibly fleeing in a black sedan.

GROCERY AT GUNPOINT

According to police, a 35-year-old male entered a grocery store near 20th Avenue and 73rd Street at around 1:20 p.m. on Saturday, January 31, wearing a black ski mask and black gloves. The perp flashed a gun at an employee behind the counter and removed $500 from the person’s pocket. The perp was not apprehended and fled northbound on 20th Avenue.

GRAND MYSTERY AUTO

A gray Nissan Altima was reported stolen on Saturday, January 31 at around 6 p.m. from its parked location near Bay Ridge Parkway and 19th Avenue. The vehicle’s owner, a 33-year-old man, told police that he was in possession of the car’s only set of keys. No evidence of a break-in was found at the scene.

STRANGER DANGER

On Sunday, February 1 at around 12:30 p.m., a 32-year-old man told police that a stranger had entered his apartment near Dahill Road and 65th Street and attacked him with a kitchen knife, causing a deep cut to his face. The perp, a 30-year-old Hispanic man, was apprehended and the victim received medical attention at the scene.

BUS STOP BAD GUY

An 80-year-old woman told police that $60 and her Medicare card where stolen out of her hand as she was waiting for the B82 bus near West Third Street and Kings Highway at around 3 p.m. on Sunday, February 1. The woman described the perp as a black male; video surveillance near the scene is available.
