ON THIS DAY in 1908, the Brooklyn Daily Eagle published an article titled “Dr. Nelson Sizer Dead From Opium Poisoning.” The article focused on a coroner’s results from an investigation into a doctor’s death.
“Opium poisoning was given as the cause of the death of Dr. Nelson Buell Sizer last night at his home…” the Eagle reported. “There is some mystery as to whether the poison was taken as an accidental overdose, or with the deliberate purpose of suicide.”
