Police Beat: 62, 68 and 72 blotters

68th Precinct

Between Monday, December 29 and Sunday, January 4, the 68^th Precinct received reports of two burglaries, one robbery, and one grand larceny. The 68th Precinct serves Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights and Fort Hamilton.

JACKED JEWELS

Between 7:30 and 10:30 p.m. on Friday, January 2, a resident living near 101^st Street and Third Avenue reported missing jewelry valued at approximately $11,400 after an unknown perp entered the residence through the front door.

PRECIOUS CARGO

On Monday, December 29 between 4 and 4:30 p.m., an unknown perp removed a computer valued at approximately $2,950 from inside a delivery truck parked near Fifth Avenue and Bay Ridge Parkway.

OUT OF TIME

A pharmacy security guard working near Fifth Avenue and Bay Ridge Parkway reported an unknown male attempting to steal watches. The guard attempted to stop the thief but was unsuccessful when the perp punched him in the face and fled the scene in a black SUV.

SUBWAY SNATCH

A Canon digital camera was snatched from the hand of a person waiting for a train on the subway platform at Fourth Avenue and 86^th Street by an unknown perp on Monday, December 29 at around 11 a.m. The perp fled on foot and has not been apprehended.

72^nd Precinct

Between Tuesday, December 30 and Monday, January 5, the 72^nd Precinct received reports of one burglary and one assault. The 72nd Precinct serves Sunset Park, Greenwood Heights and South Park Slope.

UNHAPPY NEW YEAR

Police are searching for an unknown perp who entered an apartment between Third and Fourth Avenues on 56^th Street and removed property on Wednesday, December 31. There were no signs of forced entry. The victim claims that three people lived in the same apartment for the past three months that no longer live there.

BOTTLENECK

On Thursday, January 1 at 3 a.m., an unknown suspect recklessly threw a glass bottle from across the room and hit the victim in the head at an apartment at 47^th Street between Sixth and Seventh Avenues, resulting in several lacerations. The victim was rushed to Lutheran Medical Center for treatment.

62nd Precinct

Between Saturday, December 27 and Saturday, January 3, the 62^nd Precinct received reports of four grand larcenies, two felony assaults and one robbery. The 62nd Precinct serves Bensonhurst, Bath Beach and Gravesend.

FREAKY FRIDAY

An employee of a business near 18^th and Benson Avenues had his work vehicle stolen twice on Friday, January 2. The first time the employee noticed the black Mitsubishi missing, police conducted a search of the area and found the vehicle near Bay 19^th Street. The vehicle was returned using a spare key but disappeared again after it was parked.

SATURDAY STEAL

At approximately 9 p.m. on Saturday, December 27, an unknown perp made off with a 51-year-old man’s blue Honda Civic—legally parked near 86^th and Bay 37^th Streets. The investigation is ongoing and no suspects have been apprehended.

NEW YEAR, NEW BREAK-IN

An 18-year-old Hispanic male had his credit/debit cards, clothing and car keys stolen from his vehicle sometime around 2:25 a.m. on Thursday, January 1. The vehicle, parked near 86^th Street and 24^th Avenue, was broken into via the front passenger side window.

PURSE SNATCHER

A 49-year-old female had her purse stolen by an unknown male on a public sidewalk near Bay Parkway and West Seventh Street on Saturday, January 3 at around 7 p.m. Police say the perp made off with about $80 in cash and credit/debit cards that were inside the purse.

ESTRANGED ARGUMENT

On Saturday, January 3 at approximately 6 p.m., cops say a 31-year-old woman’s estranged husband threatened her on her walk home, near West Sixth Street and Avenue S. The 41-year-old man told her that if she did not go with him, he would “kill her.” He continued to grab the woman by the coat and then stole her purse, containing $1500 and a cell phone, according to reports, before fleeing the scene.

FAMILY AFFAIR

A 49-year-old man told police that his son came to his home near 14^th and Bath Avenues and struck him with a golf club on Monday, December 29 at 7 p.m. The man was also punched by his former wife’s boyfriend. The two perps fled the scene leaving the man bruised, swollen, and with a contusion on his right knee.

SATURDAY STRIKE

A man of Middle Eastern descent was struck from behind with unknown object on Saturday, January 3 near Kings Highway and West Ninth Street. Police apprehended the perp, a 29-year-old Hispanic male, after he resisted by fighting and flailing his arms.
