The Bay Ridge Lawyers Association hosted its annual holiday party and judiciary night at the Bay Ridge Manor on Tuesday.  There were more than 100 attendees, including judges, lawyers and Fort Hamilton-stationed U.S. Army members.

“This is always such a wonderful event, and this evening was no different,” said Lisa Becker, president of the Bay Ridge Lawyers Association (BRLA). “We had a beautiful turnout, with beautiful people, a beautiful ambiance and great food.”

During the event, the BRLA also collected unopened toys to donate to Toys for Tots. Everybody brought at least one toy, and with so many people in attendance, there ended up being thousands of dollars’ worth of toys collected.

“There is nothing better during the holiday season than to give toys to children that are less fortunate than ourselves and our own children,” Becker said. “It’s something that we have been doing for quite a few years and really makes everyone feel good and hopefully can brighten the lives of the kids that receive them.”

The evening was also a valuable networking opportunity for BRLA members. Attendees had the opportunity to meet each other in a casual atmosphere, which was especially helpful for younger lawyers who didn’t know the many judges in attendance.

“We’re very fortunate to have all of these judges here tonight, and we have these parties because we want to celebrate the holiday, celebrate life,” Becker said. “We want to do something positive so that we can create beautiful memories.”
