Police Beat: 62 and 68 Precinct blotters

68th Precinct

Between Saturday, November 22 and Thursday, November 27, the 68th Precinct received reports of one robbery, two burglaries and two grand larcenies. The 68th Precinct serves Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights and Fort Hamilton.

 SUCKER PUNCH

A woman was walking home on Tuesday, November 25 near the corner of 73rd Street and 12th Avenue around 7:30 p.m. when she was allegedly approached from behind by an unknown woman. According to cops, the female suspect then punched the victim in the face, causing a bloody nose and knocking her to the ground.

Once the victim was on the ground, the suspect reportedly snatched her purse and fled.

THANKSGIVING THIEF

A home near 12th and Ovington Avenues was broken into sometime between Wednesday, November 26 at 5:30 p.m. and Thursday, November 27 at 6 p.m. through the side window, according to cops, who say the perp made off with over $6,000 in miscellaneous tools.

2 CHAINZ

The residence of a person living near Fifth and Ovington Avenues was broken into sometime between 9 a.m. and 11:30 p.m. on Friday, November 28, say cops. According to the police, the suspect gained entrance through the rear window via the fire escape.

Cops report that the perp made off with one Canon camera and two gold chains, valued at roughly $2,620.

FOOL ME ONCE

An elderly woman living near Narrows Avenue and 74th Street told cops that she received a phone call on Saturday, November 22 around 10 p.m. from an unknown person claiming to be the IRS. The unknown person on the other end of the line allegedly told the woman – in her 70s – that she owed $1,500 and instructed her to make a payment using a store-purchased Green Dot card.

The victim complied and read the perp the number and PIN on the back of the card.

R-OBBED

A local commuter was sitting on a southbound R train stopped near Fourth Avenue and Bay Ridge Avenue on Thursday, November 27 around 2 p.m. when the train doors opened and an unknown male perp allegedly snatched the rider’s cell phone.

The suspect then fled the train and station on foot.

 

62nd Precinct

Between Tuesday, November 25 and Monday, December 1, the 62nd Precinct received reports of four robberies, six felony assaults, four grand larcenies and two robberies. The 62nd Precinct serves Bensonhurst, Bath Beach and Gravesend.

BATTER UP

On Tuesday, November 25 at 7 p.m. a 49-year-old man was pushing his bike in his backyard at 15th Avenue and 85th Street when an unknown male perp struck the victim several times in the head with a bat. The victim suffered lacerations and bleeding. The perp fled in an unknown direction.

HAMMER HORROR

A woman told the police that her boyfriend, a white male, struck her in the arm with a hammer after an argument on Tuesday, November 25 at 10:30 p.m. at an apartment at 19th Avenue and 84th Street, causing severe swelling and bruising. The perp was not on the scene when cops arrived

KNOCK KNOCK

On Wednesday, November 26 at 11:30 a.m., a male victim claimed that an unknown suspect attempted to enter his apartment at 68th Street and 19th Avenue. The lock on the door to the man’s home sustained damage and wooden pieces were broken.

RUDE AWAKENING

On Saturday, November 29 at 3:03 a.m. a woman boarded the D train at the 161st Street station in the Bronx and fell asleep. When she woke up at the 25th Avenue station in Brooklyn, she discovered that her phone, which she had put on her lap, was gone, nabbed by an unknown suspect.

CLOSING TIME

A male employee at a cell phone store near West Eighth Street and Bay Parkway was closing the shop on Saturday, November 29 at 7:50 p.m. when unknown suspects entered and pointed a black firearm, demanding money and phones.

The perps got away with $3,800 and two iPhones. They were said to have fled on foot south bound on West Eighth Street towards Avenue O. No injuries were sustained during the robbery.

NIGHTMARE JOB

On Monday, December 1, at 7:20 p.m. a male victim was attacked by three men, one Hispanic, while waiting at West Fourth Street between 23rd and 24th Avenues for someone to give him an estimate on a construction job. The victim said he had gone to the corner after receiving a call from an unknown number.

The perps hit the victim in the face several times, causing cuts to the lower lip and bruises to the face, and then stole his wallet containing $1,500 and credit and debit cards.
