Several employees of the New York state court system were honored on Wednesday for their commitment to excellence in public service.

The fourth annual Milton Mollen Commitment to Excellence Awards ceremony was hosted by Brooklyn’s appellate court at 45 Monroe Place.

Recognized at the afternoon event was Nathaniel Rollerson, supervisor in the clerk’s office of the Appellate Division, Second Department.

“I’m happy to say Nathaniel is a native of Brooklyn,” Hon. Randall Eng, presiding for the appellate division, said as he introduced Rollerson.

“This court is very exacting in its requirements,” said the court’s top judge. “And Nathaniel is the calm in the storm in our chaotic clerk’s office.”

An additional Brooklyn court employee acknowledged was Michael Magliano, chief of citywide operations for Kings County Court, Criminal Term, who was noticed for his dedication to courts.

Also recognized at the event were Nancy Barry, chief clerk, Ninth Judicial District; Nicole Dempsey, resource coordinator, 10th Judicial District Nassau; Christopher Tucker, senior court analyst, 10th Judicial District-Suffolk; Christopher Olsson, principal court clerk, 11th Judicial District; Beth Cicero, senior court reporter, 13th Judicial District; and Mary Ellen Horan, assistant court analyst, grievance committee, Ninth Judicial District

Retired Judge Milton Mollen, the award’s namesake, was also present and gave a few remarks.

The Mollen Award was established in 2011 to recognize the achievements and efforts of court employees within the Second Judicial District who demonstrated professionalism and dedication at their court or agency.
