Borough President Eric Adams says it’s time to get your flu shot – and you can get it for free at Brooklyn Borough Hall on Friday, November 21 from 11 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. in the community room, while supplies last.

The shots are offered in partnership with Walgreens. Bring any insurance cards you may have to the event. Borough Hall is located at 209 Joralemon Street in Downtown Brooklyn. For more information, call 718-802-3717.

On Saturday and Sunday, the NYU Langone Cobble Hill walk-in facility, at the former Long Island College Hospital (LICH) site, is also offering free flu shots for adults ages 18 and older.

On Saturday, Nov. 22, the shots will be offered from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. On Sunday, Nov. 23, the hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Emergency Department on Amity Street between Hicks and Henry streets.

According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), flu activity is presently low across the United States, but there are early signs that activity is increasing and flu activity is expected to increase further in the coming weeks. CDC surveillance data shows sporadic local outbreaks of the flu in New York State for the week ending Nov. 8.

The most commonly reported types of flu virus this season are influenza A and influenza B. Very few 2009 H1N1 viruses have been reported.

CDC recommends an annual flu vaccine for everyone 6 months of age and older.
