It’s a happy anniversary indeed for the folks at TEBA Pharmacy – the Ridge’s first organic pharmacy – a Fifth Avenue storefront that, just this month, celebrated its first year on the strip.

“We have another location in Astoria and we were noticing that a lot of the Bay Ridge community was coming to Astoria to see us,” explained owner Sam Salameh, a second-generation pharmacist who followed in his father’s footsteps. “A lot of the doctors we worked with suggested that we open up in Bay Ridge, so we did our research and thought, ‘This could work.’”

And that it did.

“It’s been truly fantastic,” Sam said. “The community is changing. People are coming from Manhattan and Park Slope to Bay Ridge and that’s great.”

On top of that, he said, there aren’t many places like TEBA. From chemical-free shampoos to hand-made soaps and scrubs straight from the Dead Sea, Sam says he has it all and guarantees you won’t find it anywhere else in the Ridge – not to mention the customer service.

“What makes us truly special is our customer service, and that we understand where people are coming from,” explained Sam who, at a young age, helped to take care of his grandmother. “I grew up with my grandmother and our family always did anything and everything to make her life easier – and that’s what we help people do here.

“Other pharmacists can be impersonal,” he went on, “with them, you never know what you’re going to get but at TEBA, we listen, and we know you.”

On top of unbeatable customer service, Sam said, is a set of unbeatable hours. TEBA Pharmacy is open six days a week – keeping the lights on ‘till midnight three days a week. “We’re the only pharmacy of this kind to stay open that late,” he said.

TEBA Pharmacy, located at 7618 Fifth Avenue, is open Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to midnight, and Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

“Once they come to TEBA, they’re never going to go anywhere else,” said Sam.
