62nd Precinct

Between Tuesday, November 4 and Monday, November 10, the 62nd Precinct received reports of nine burglaries, two felony assaults, nine grand larcenies and four auto thefts. The 62nd Precinct serves Bensonhurst, Bath Beach and Gravesend.

PICTURE UNPERFECT

A 22-year-old man stopped to take a photo on the waterfront at Bath Beach Park and someone ran off with his bag of electronics, which he had left on a park bench behind him at Shore Parkway and Bay 14th Street, said police. The incident occurred at around 5:20 p.m. on Monday, November 10.

STIFFED AND SLASHED

Police are searching for a 20-year-old black man who allegedly slashed another 20-year-old black male with a knife, cutting the right side of his face, during an argument over job compensation to the victim, said police. The incident occurred at around 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 5 at 18th Avenue and 79th Street.

GYM GRAB

Someone broke into a gym locker and emptied the contents of the purse within, leaving the purse behind at around 10 a.m. on Monday, November 10, inside a fitness center on 86th Street near 20th Avenue, police said. A cell phone, credit cards and $600 in cash were stolen.

BUMPED OFFLINE

A 39-year-old man told police that a group of four men bumped into him, pickpocketing him and taking his cell phone in the process, at around 4 p.m. on Thursday, November 6 near the intersection of 86th Street and 20th Avenue. The man had been walking home from a nearby train station.

UNHOLY THEFT

Police are searching for the person who broke into the Church of the Holy Spirit, possibly through a basement window, some time between Friday evening, November 7 and Saturday, November 8, said police. The perp stole $330 in cash from a desk drawer and broke down a closed door in the process.

CAUGHT RED-HANDED

Police arrested a 23-year-old man for allegedly attempting to steal a wallet out of a purse while its owner was preoccupied inside a salon on 86th Street near Bay 16th Street at around 4:11 p.m. on Tuesday, November 4.

The suspect was said to be seen by a witness. A subsequent search of his person during arrest also resulted in the alleged discovery of a gravity knife in his waistband, a plastic straw of heroin in his right sock and one glassine envelope of heroin concealed by his cell phone.

BROKEN DOOR

Someone stole jewelry from an 81-year-old woman’s home on 23rd Avenue at 62nd Street while she was away, between Saturday, November 8 and Monday, November 10, said police. The front door had been forced open and the door frame and lock broken.

CAR THEFTS

A 2009 gray Suzuki motorcycle was taken from its spot outside a home on 21st Avenue near 76th Street some time between 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 8 and 9 a.m. the next morning, said police.

A 1998 white Toyota RAV 4 was stolen from its parking spot on 18th Avenue near 81st Street at around 3 p.m. on Sunday, November 9, police said.

A 2014 black Nissan Altima was stolen between 2 a.m. and 8 a.m. on Thursday, November 6, from a spot on 85th Street between 20th and 21st Avenues, police said.

Police arrested a 45-year-old man for allegedly stealing a 2001 gray Nissan Pathfinder from its spot on 83rd Street between 20th and 21st Streets between Tuesday and Wednesday, November 4-5.
