Kings County Steelers ground Queens Falcons 26-0

On Saturday, November 1, the Kings County Steelers faced the Queens Falcons in NYCYFL action. The Steelers dominated the game on the legs of running back Carlo Miciotta, who ran the ball with ease against the Falcons’ defense, amassing nine carries for 117 yards with two touchdowns.

Miciotta’s first touchdown came on a 33-yard dash of cuts and slashes that ended in an interesting celebration in the endzone. Miciotta continued his dominance out of the backfield with another 40-yard trounce for a touchdown.

Miciotta’s performance set the Steelers’ single game rushing record. On this day, the seven-year-old Miciotta averaged an astonishing 13 yards per rush in the best game of his young career. His record-setting day was made possible, in part, by the stellar play of his offensive line of Carmelo Santana, Vincenzo DeRiggi, Oscar Zheng, Sean DellaTorre, Daniel Torres and Ilias Ruiz, who opened holes for Miciotta the entire game.

The Steelers’ defense was again ferocious, producing another shutout. The Steelers defense — led by defensive end Artie Acevedo, who gathered 5.5 sacks and six tackles, and defensive tackle Santana who contributed 2.5 sacks, a fumble recovery and four tackles — only allowed three first downs to the Falcons’ offense.

Defensive end Luciano DiPreta added five tackles and a sack, while linebackers DeRiggi, DellaTorre and Faheem “Junior” Clark also contributed a sack and six tackles to the Steelers’ defensive effort. Cornerbacks Joe Nardiello and Jayda Garcia provided three tackles from the edges. The Steelers’ defense is hitting on all cylinders heading into the final game of the regular season.

The Steelers’ offense put up 26 points against the Falcons. Although Carlo Miciotta was the star of the day, there was additional offense by way of a 20-yard sprint by quarterback Sal Miciotta and a 30-yard touchdown reception from Sal Miciotta to wide receiver Clark in the closing seconds of the game.

The Steelers running back corps of Garcia and Flash Russo along with wide receiver Acevedo combined to add an additional 61 rushing yards on seven carries, as the offense recorded its highest scoring output of the season.

The Steelers walked away with a 26-0 win over the Queens Falcons and have pulled into the NYCYFL playoff picture with a possible sudden death playoff with the Brooklyn Panthers impending.
